Education & Background
Heather Hamilton (she/her) is a Licensed Social Worker who puts mindfulness at the center of her practice. Heather received her Masters of Social Work from Rutgers University and is a certified mindfulness meditation facilitator. Additionally, she has advanced training in somatic experiencing for trauma renegotiation. Heather has worked with children, teens, adults, and families.
Approach
Heather is a compassionate therapist that approaches therapeutic practice like she approaches life; with curiosity, empathy, and presence. She uses a client-centered, strengths-based approach that encourages exploration, agency, resilience, and trust. Her advanced training in mindfulness and somatic experiencing are supports in her use of other evidence-based modalities such as, Polyvagal Theory, Attachment Theory, Structural Family Systems, Internal Family Systems, Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. With Heather, clients will recognize the connection between their mind and bodies, how this impacts the way they navigate the world, and work to become more centered and grounded.
