Education & Background
Heather Hamilton (she/her) is a licensed social worker who received her Masters of Social Work from Rutgers University. She is a certified mindfulness meditation facilitator and has advanced training in somatic experiencing for trauma renegotiation. Heather has worked with children, teens, adults, and families.
Approach
Heather approaches therapeutic practice like she approaches life; with curiosity, compassion, presence and empathy. She uses a client-centered, strengths-based approach that encourages exploration, agency, resilience, and trust. Her advanced training in mindfulness and somatic experiencing are supports in her use of other evidence-based modalities such as, Polyvagal Theory, Attachment Theory, Structural Family Systems, Internal Family Systems, Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
